Touch "Conductive Coil"

"Conductive Coil" 6x3x4 Balsa wood, Fern stem, Green thread, Wood glue    Code Senders  “Their parallel arrangement may make them especially sensitive to something touching them at a perpendicular angle.”  - Diane Ackerman, A Natureal History of the Senses (83) Pierced by a cotton thread this fern has been tethered together to change it’s natural resting state. The leaves of this plant don’t touch one another on their own, however, by threading them together they are interconnected by both the stem and their tips. I imagine this as a coil of life force where the still-living fern continues to flow with energy but now instead of sending that energy out to the tips it is further conducted and travels all the way into the wood base where the process can begin again.
